Joshua Jean-Baptiste May 31st 2011 Mr.Ritter Sophocles Man of Time             Sophocles was the man of his clip he has written many plays but his most memorable were the three Theban plays: Antigone, Oedipus the King, and Oedipus at Colonus. Underneath his deep conglomerate stories he  managed to incorporate many issues of his day into his scripts. He wrote of estate and compare, the entail manpowert of devotion and the importance of self knowledge. These insights are not special to Sophocles time and are just as applicable at present as there were then.             Some of the insights Sophocles utilise in his plays were democracy and equality. This is showed when Sophocles hints at the reader when Oedipus shows to power with Creon and Jocasta. Creon shows he hold almost sort of power  when he says My urban center too, not yours alone. as well Oedipus showed pry towards Jocasta when he told her I respect you Jocasta much to a greater ex tent than these men here.

Sophocles was most likely a supporter of commonwealth and equality because he showed that between the characters in his plays.              Sophocles also corporate religion faith he probably had a sinewy effect in religion. He made Oedipus a grand magnate but also made the character respect the priest and the prophet Tiresias. He helped the priest to his feet in the offshoot of Oedipus the King.
